Sat in a Miata for the first time. Meh. Yep. Meh. I think if I was in the market for a small, light, cheap, rwd, economy car, based on only sitting in them, it would be BRZ. Also WTF Acura and Infiniti? They did not feel like luxury cars. The Avalon felt nicer. Hell, some of the nicer Hyundais and Kias felt nicer. I was very impressed with the Korean offerings; they have come a loooong way.
Also the Ghibli felt a lot like a Chrysler and nothing like the Quattroporte. Chryslers were nicer than I was expecting, but still not great. FCA definitely had the best looking display girls in my opinion.
The Jaguar XJR was a let down. For a big luxo cruiser, it seemed sparse compared to the S, 7er, A8, and even the Equus. The fucking Equus!
Lincoln was exactly what I was expecting. They looked nice, but did not feel any more special than their Ford counterpart. They have a ways to go before catching up to Cadillac.
Lastly, I honestly didn't even notice Mitsubishi was there until I checked the Chicago auto show web site just now. I guess I didn't miss much anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if they pull a Suzuki and ditch the US market.
That is all.

On Miata: Yup, thought the exact same thing, it's just Meh.
Personally, I was done walking around the auto show in an hour, wasn't a whole lot tickling my fancy. I tried a few different simulators instead, that's how I spent the day.

I did the "distracted" driving "simulator" over at Toyota. I swear it was rigged. The most distracting thing was trying to drive through goggles; no peripheral vision, no feelings of momentum. You had to floor it to move at all (I mean, yea it was a Corolla, but come on). And when they asked me to send a text, I couldn't see the phone through the goggles so of course I had to look down. The gas was like an on off switch so it was near impossible to maintain steady speed. Also the simulator needed an alignment pretty bad.

I did the Hyundai Genesis in GT6 (too easy.....), Ford Atlas at Lienz Hillclimb in rFactor (6-axis rig was cool, throttle and brake assists were crap....), and Mazda Miata at Laguna Seca (hated the motion rig, throttle spring was waaaaaaaaaay too light) simulators. I did the Ford and Mazda simulators mostly to see what the rigs feel like, after doing the Ford one I really like using a 6-axis rig with a huge 3-screen setup, the Mazda one I really didn't like because at one point the rig was at a 45-degree angle while my body was telling my head to stay vertical, there was just way too much angle in such a small space.
At the end of the day, none of them were really worth waiting in line for, though I do want a 6-axis rig now....
